Cenosphere

Cenospheres are hollow ceramic cenospheres found in fly ash, a natural by-product of coal combustion from thermal power plant.

The cenosphere quality is directly influenced by the coal used in power plant, higher coal quality leads to higher cenosphere quality.

Cenosphere can be classified in many grades according to the following specifications:

  • Size
  • True density
  • Color

Cenosphere offered by Unisphere are packed in :

  • in big bags of 500/600 kg
  • in 20 kg paper bags

We mainly classify our cenosphere based on the true density into:

  • common grade
  • low density grade
  • Common Grade, is the most commonly type of cenosphere, higher true density, with lower price. Used where low density is not required
  • Low Density Grade, valued by the marker for its lower true density

Unisphere is able to supply cenospheres based on specific gravity, size distribution, color, chemistry, or a combination of these standards to meet your specific need.

APPLICATIONS OF THE CENOSPHERE

Cenosphere belong to a group of very innovative industrial materials. Although they have been known and present on the market for many years, they are still the subject of intensive research and development. New properties of cenospheres are being discovered and new possibilities of their application are being developed. This means that the area of use of this material is not yet fully defined and is constantly expanding into new industrial fields. At present, cenospheres are used to the greatest extent:

  • for the production and filling of building elements, insulating elements, insulating layers, wall linings and decorative elements
  • for the production of refractory and interior materials for furnaces
  • as insulating and self-lubricating powder for foundry moulds
  • as an additive to rubber and plastic products, as well as to paints and varnishes, causing an increase in the heat resistance of these products
  • to increase the sound absorption of lining materials
  • to decrease the flammability of PVC cable braids
  • in crude oil processing
  • in production of various types of electrotechnical ceramics
  • as an excellent sorbent useful for removing contaminants (e.g. crude oil from the surface of water)

Application

Cenospheres are hollow ceramic microspheres found in fly ash, a natural by-product of coal combustion from thermal power plant.
Color range from grey to white.

Automotive

Applications are wind deflectors, under bonnet parts, body shaping parts, bumpers, sunroof frames, brake pads, sealants, body fillers and putties.

building

Construction

Low shrinkage, low slump, stress-free sanding and ease of use due to its light weight, low density, all properties that are beneficial factors that cenospheres bring.
plastic

Paiting & Coating

Cenosphere can act as a heat loss barrier and an erosion barrier corrosion resistant coating in coatings and paints fields, paint technology has taken cenospheres to its heart as they can produce an attractive finish.

Energy & Engineering

Cenosphere can produce low density high in strength cement slurries.
boat

Recreation

boats, floating equipment, bowling balls, surfboards, kayaks, golf equipment, footwear, lawns and garden decoration.
Ceramics

Ceramics

refractories, pouring compounds, roofing tiles, fire bricks, aluminous cement, insulating materials, coatings.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Quality management takes place at every level.

  • Automatic quality control sampling for every 20 kg of raw material/goods
  • In-house fully equipped laboratory for precise measurement of physical parameters of samples
  • Traceable quality – each sample is bar-coded, documented and archived
  • Flexible IT quality management system (QMS) – fully integrated with production and sales departments
  • We measure more than 10 different cenosphere parameters, viz: resistance to hydraulic crushing; measurement of particle size distribution; using 3D laser analyser and sieves; bulk density, specific gravity, humidity, cenosphere color, conductivity, falling parts, pH, cenosphere biological activity
  • Each shipment of goods is accompanied by a certificate (quality certificate), which is the average of the test results of all pallets sent to the customer.
